Quel biberon à 1 mois, 2 mois, 3 mois, etc ? - Élhée

Which bottle at 1 month, 2 months, 3 months, etc.?

Depending on the age of your baby, the choice of bottle may be different.

A one-month-old baby does not drink the same quantities of milk as a six-month-old baby. As nutritional needs are not the same, the size of the bottle will be different.

A growing baby will see his milk consumption increase over the months. As a parent, you must therefore anticipate this growth by taking care to equip yourself with age-appropriate bottles.

SUMMARY :

Baby at 1 month: which bottle to choose?

At one month old, your baby is still very small and his stomach has limited capacity. It is recommended to choose a small bottle, which can hold approximately 90 to 120 ml of breast or infant milk.

A small 150ml bottle is ergonomic, more suitable for infants and can be used until at least 2 and a half months. After that ? We reuse it from 6 months as a water bottle or as a small potty when diversifying thanks to the lid on Elhée baby bottles! 😉

It is important to offer a bottle size adapted to the quantity of milk, otherwise the bottle will fill with air, which could lead to colic in your baby.

Opting for a bottle with a slow flow teat will also allow your baby to nurse at their own pace and not be overwhelmed by too fast a flow. Note that too intense a flow promotes the appearance of colic and regurgitation .

“And at 0 months, then?”
You don't know which bottle to take for maternity? 🤗
A newborn drinks very small amounts of milk in the first few days.
Even if you choose to breastfeed after giving birth, it is better to put in your suitcase a bottle suitable for a baby less than a month old.
This content will help you organize the arrival of your child with peace of mind:

Baby at 2 months? We opt for a larger bottle and slightly increase the quantity of milk! 👌

Between 2 and 3 months, your baby will begin to take larger amounts of milk with each feeding. At this age, infants can typically drink between 120 and 180 ml of milk per feeding, but again, this can vary from baby to baby depending on their individual needs and growth rate.

Slow flow pacifiers are often recommended for this age group, and particularly for mixed breastfeeding babies. Pacifier flow rates are given as an indication, as each baby has their own sucking rhythm. It is therefore important to monitor your baby's signs to determine if it is necessary to adjust the flow rate of the pacifier.

To know when to increase the flow from the pacifier, notice if your baby seems frustrated or tired during feeding, if he makes stronger sucking movements, or if he takes longer to finish his usual bottle. His attitude usually indicates whether he is ready for a faster flow pacifier.

Baby growing up? Beyond 3 months, so do their needs 🤸‍♀️

After 3 months, your baby will continue to increase his milk intake as he grows. Milk quantities per feeding can vary between 150 and 240 ml , or more, depending on your baby's individual needs. At this point, you may want to consider upgrading to larger capacity bottles.

You can monitor your baby's signs of fullness to improve how you meet their ever-changing nutritional needs. If you have any doubts about the quantities of milk to give your baby, do not hesitate to consult your pediatrician for personalized advice.

More than 6 months? Make way for the maxi-size bottle! 👏

From 6 months, your baby will probably have started to diversify his diet with purees , compotes and other solid foods in addition to breast or infant milk. Nonetheless, milk remains an important component of his diet, and he will continue to need to drink milk to meet his nutritional needs.

At this age, you may want to consider using larger capacity bottles that can hold between 240ml and 330ml of milk. Opting for a larger bottle model is more practical because it allows your baby to drink more milk in one go . Your child will drink more but less frequently and feedings will therefore begin to become less frequent.

Medium to fast flow teats will be appropriate at this age, but the choice of teat will also depend on your baby's preferences and ability to handle milk flow. Note that it is possible to put a suction nozzle on the pacifier to offer water during meals in small quantities from 6 months.

To conclude
