Empowerment: Being a mother in your own way

Women have always been at the heart of debates and often destructive passions. Targetted, instrumentalized, subjugated and accused of many evils, the centuries and the last few decades have seen her go from witch to muse, not forgetting the warrior woman, perhaps the most important of all. Today, women are resolutely free and independent in their choices. Among them is the proud mother. Fulfilled, luminous, bathed in natural confidence and serenity, she forges ahead, facing one obstacle after another, enjoying life's pleasures as they come. Because her greatest power is within her. She is empowerment incarnate. She is She, at last.

Empowerment, n.m., but feminine quality

Difficult to pronounce, the word empowerment is just as hard to explain. More than a word with a definition attached to it,empowerment is a concept, a philosophy of life, a feeling.

The simple Larousse translation is "greater autonomy". In reality, this is a pale reflection of what empowerment actually means. Another dictionary suggests a fuller definition, speaking of liberation, full rights and social, moral and intellectual emancipation. In our view, what's missing is a more personal dimension, an inner power.

According to Élhée, empowerment is akin to a woman's control over who she is, and over her private and professional life. - her private and professional life - which requires deep inner work, starting with acceptance of who she is and the strengths that come with it.acceptance of who she is and the forces that flow from it her true sacred power.

Empowerment and women of the world

From a societal point of view, women - and other minorities along with them - are still in dire need of the empowerment that empowerment represents. We're talking here about unschooled girls, social injunctions, gender equality and gender stereotypes. Each of these barriers weakens the woman, her achievements and her future. Empowerment is being developed to help counter them, without waiting for or in addition to outside help.

Being a mother and reclaiming your sacred power

Ifempowerment is an inner awakening, it can also be the result of a transmission, from mother to child.

History describes the ambivalence surrounding the woman-mother quite well. A goddess of the sacred feminine through her procreative power, motherhood is also presented as a woman's greatest state of vulnerability and submission.

Except that things are changing. The modern world and the future, thanks in particular to empowerment, are gradually agreeing on a new vision of motherhood- or rather, several visions. Little by little, multiple motherhood is taking shape and moving towards acceptance. Through the transformation of empowerment, every mother can be the mom, stay-at-home mom, working mom or unexpected mom she wants to be. Empowerment pushes mothers towardsassent and self-confidence, between tradition and modernity, towards instinctive and majestic motherhood.

On the occasion of International Women's Rights Day, Élhée, a feminine and maternal company if there ever was one, wanted to pay tribute to all mothers, from the most novice to the most incarnate, including all those who occupy this role, whatever their way of assuming it. There are 1,001 ways, and probably more, of being a mother to your children.

  • Being a mother means embarking on the journey of medically-assisted fertilization, perhaps trying several times, and finally getting pregnant naturally after a long struggle.
  • Being a mother means discovering you're pregnant despite taking contraception, and deciding to welcome this new child with happiness.
  • Being a mother means bringing your child into the world naturally or with the help of a Caesarean section, choosing an unmedicalized birth or benefiting from an epidural.
  • Being a mother means breastfeeding your baby infant formula and bottle-feeding, or choosing or choosing mixed breastfeeding.
  • Being a mother means enduring the complications, stress and monitoring of a high-risk pregnancy, and sometimes spending long, trying weeks in a neonatal intensive care unit.
  • Being a mother means staying awake through the night to care for your sick child.
  • Being a mother means going back to work full-time or part-time, and being convinced that it's the right thing for you and your baby.
  • Being a mother means making the choice to stay at home to raise your child, and to grow as a result.
  • Being a mother means sharing household chores equally with the person who shares your life, or entrusting her with most of the work while you manage the household finances.
  • Being a mother also means experiencing a failed love affair or a conflict over child custody.
  • Being a mother means relying on others when necessary, having the courage to put your child up for adoption to give it a better future, or feeding it milk from an anonymous donor.
  • Being a mother doesn't mean that you have to be perfect, or even that you have to stick to one stereotype or another; being a mother means above all being you and doing things in line with who you are, unvarnished and revealing the sacred power of your personality.

To be a mother is above all to be a woman, because to be happy is above all to be you, because to transmit is above all to know yourself so that you can set an example to your children of a mother who is available and generous, but also aware of her needs and balance as a person, for the well-being of all.

As a deeply femininea deeply feminine company founded by a mother in an almost entirely male-dominated industry, Élhée takes a keen interest in changes in society, especially when they affect mothers and their children. So, on this global day of recognition and celebration, we wanted to do our bit!
