Why plastic baby bottles will soon no longer be tolerated in crèches

As of January 1, 2025, day nurseries, schools and medical establishments located in municipalities with more than 2,000 inhabitants may no longer use plastic food containers to cook, heat or serve meals. These regulations confirm the move away from plastic feeding bottles to glass or silicone bottles, which are safer for babies' health. It is also part of an essential initiative to protect the precious health of toddlers, who are still all too often exposed to invisible plastic micro-particles.

At Élhée, this conviction has been at the heart of our commitment since 2019. Right from the start, we chose to push back the boundaries of traditional childcare by offering a healthy, sustainable alternative to plastic baby bottles, at a time when this public health issue was still little-known.

Why ban plastic from nurseries?

Because the challenge is to protect babies' health.

A small but growing organization

The first few months of life are crucial, and infants are more sensitive to chemical substances than adults. What's more, as their digestive systems and metabolism are still immature, they assimilate them more quickly.

An underestimated health risk

When plastic is heated, it releases invisible micro-particles that can migrate into food. Some, like endocrine disruptors, are suspected of having harmful effects on children's hormonal development and growth.

📌 Everything you need to know about endocrine disruptors

A commitment to future generations

This ban goes far beyond the health of babies: it helps to reduce plastic waste and protect our environment. Less plastic in nurseries also means a healthier planet for our children.

Regulations formalize this new awareness

This measure follows on from the commitments made in the EGALIM law, aimed at limiting the exposure of sensitive populations to food contaminants. (Source: info.gouv.fr) But in concrete terms, what does this mean for your baby and his meals at nursery school? What are the risks associated with heated plastics, and what alternatives exist? We explain.

  • Plastic feeding bottles are still allowed during the transition period, but can no longer be heated on site at the crèche.

  • Meals must be served and reheated in plastic-free containers: glass, silicone or stainless steel.

  • Day-care centers must gradually renew their equipment, giving priority to healthy, sustainable solutions.

What if your baby uses a plastic bottle? He can keep it, the nursery will simply have to :

  • Transfer milk to a non-plastic container before reheating.

  • Make sure no plastic is exposed to heat before serving food or drinks.

Zero plastic in day nurseries: a constraint or an opportunity?

the alternative to plastic feeding bottles, the Élhée medical silicone feeding bottle

While this evolution may seem restrictive at first glance, it's an opportunity to instill healthy habits in our children.

✨ What if you took the opportunity to adopt a safer alternative right now?

At Élhée, we've designed our medical silicone feeding bottles with one overriding aim in mind: to preserve the purity of milk formula and protect baby from plastic micro-particles.

Why choose the Élhée medical silicone feeding bottle?

The BibROND stands out for its unique features, designed to guarantee your baby's safety and well-being.

  • Platinum catalysis: guarantees exceptional purity by avoiding the use of peroxides or other chemical agents that can leave volatile residues.
  • Hypoallergenic and biocompatible: designed to be perfectly tolerated by toddlers' bodies, without releasing microparticles.
  • Free from harmful substances: medical silicone contains no BPA, BPS, phthalates or other controversial substances.

Enhanced security thanks to our unique locking system

Élhée has developed a patented closure system that eliminates any contact between the milk and the plastic, unlike glass baby bottles which still use polypropylene (thermoplastic polymer dderived from hydrocarbons). An innovation that guarantees your baby a diet 100% free from undesirable micro-particles.

Ergonomic and sensorial design

  • Soft, flexible texture that mimics the feel of a mother's breast for optimum comfort. High-performance anti-colic system reduces air absorption during feeding.
  • Lightweight and unbreakable, ideal for safe use with no risk of breakage, unlike glass.

When you choose Élhée, you're choosing an innovation designed for the well-being of babies and a healthy alternative to plastic feeding bottles, helping to protect your child's health. 🌿
