Baby and the sun: looking for the best protection
At birth, an infant's skin is more permeable and fragile than its parents'. It also produces less melanin (the pigment that naturally protects against UV rays) and less sebum (the skin's moisturizing agent), exposing it more quickly to sunburn and dehydration.
Toddlers are naturally more sensitive to the sun and heat. Their fragile skin exposes them more, and they don't yet know how to protect themselves. For them, every ray counts: hence the importance of choosing the shade, moisturizing them well... and never forgetting sun protection.
When it comes to sunscreen for babies, do you know which formula to choose? For baby's comfort, always opt for a high protection factor (SPF 50+), a hypoallergenic, water-resistant formula and the use of new-generation filters.
Élhée SPF50 sun cream: a gentle, demanding formula
Élhée presents its sun cream for babies and pregnant women! For the very highest protection of infants from birth, it's unrivalled, firstly for its sun protection factor 50+ and secondly for its broad-spectrum formula that fights against UVA and UVB rays. What's more, its invisible, water-resistant, fluid and non-sticky texture makes it pleasant, quick and easy to apply.

Why did Élhée get into sun protection?

At Élhée, each new product is born of a need, a mother's intuition and a sincere demand: to preserve what is most beautiful. So offering a sun cream was an obvious, natural extension of our commitment.
From our very first medical silicone feeding bottles, developed to preserve the purity of breast milk, to our most nomadic childcare accessories, our mission has remained the same: to support the first years of life without compromise, while respecting the health of babies and the parent-child bond.
And if protecting toddlers' skin from the sun is a necessity, doing so with a safe formula and sensorial texture is our way of staying true to who we are.
Sensoriality, safety, practicality: this triptych guides every one of our decisions, and our baby & mom sun cream is in line with this approach: with its nomadic 50 ml format, soothing design and ultra-high protection formula (SPF50), it accompanies babies from birth and pregnant women from the first trimester of pregnancy.
With this protective cream and its 3-in-1 cleansing foam, Élhée is staying the course. We're doing what we've always done: creating with intention, love and high standards, so that every daily gesture becomes a mark of trust.
Our everyday tips for protecting children from the sun
Protecting infants, babies and children from the sun involves more than just applying sunscreen. In fact, even with the best possible protection, the youngest should not be directly exposed to the sun's rays.
There are a number of simple but essential gestures you can incorporate into the rhythm of your summer days.
At what age should I start using sunscreen?
Before the age of 6 months, toddlers should not be exposed to direct sunlight, especially during the hottest hours (11 a.m. - 4 p.m.). But because everyday life doesn't always leave you with a choice, our SPF50+ sun cream has been designed for babies from birth, with a high-tolerance formula that's fragrance-free, free of controversial filters and nanoparticles.
How often should I apply sunscreen to my baby's skin?

Even with very high protection, a single application is not enough. Be sure to apply SPF50+ sunscreen to your child 30 minutes before leaving home. Then, repeat the operation every two hours, even in the shade or under a hazy sky (UV rays reflect off many surfaces: sand, water, concrete, etc.), after every swim, even with a water-resistant formula, and after drying the skin with a towel, or if baby sweats a lot.
The ideal is to keep a tube close at hand, so that using it becomes a natural gesture... like checking the bath temperature.
Can Élhée sun cream be used on the face and body?
Yes, its formula has been designed to be gentle and well-tolerated on all sensitive areas, including the face. Its on-the-go format makes it easy to slip into a bag for targeted touch-ups.
How much sunscreen should I apply to a baby?
Official recommendations vary from one thick layer to around one teaspoon for the face and one per arm/leg. It's best to apply two successive light coats to ensure good coverage, especially for toddlers who move around a lot.
My baby hates cream. What can I do?
Turn the application into a sensory game or moment of tenderness: a little massage, a song, or the mirror application on your own skin can change everything.
